What to know

Rhinoplasty changes the nose with an implant, your own cartilage, or by reshaping what is already there. Most plans combine several steps, so two quotes for “a nose job” can describe different surgeries. Ask for each step by name.

Common methods

Silicone implant

Bridge height

Widely used in Asia. Reported problems: infection, shifting, capsular contracture, implant pushing through the skin. Rates vary by surgeon and technique.

Your own cartilage (septum, ear, rib)

Bridge and tip support

No implant material, but a second surgical site. Rib cartilage is mostly used for larger changes and revisions.

Tip plasty

Tip height and shape

Often paired with cartilage. The tip is the last part to settle.

Alar reduction

Nostril width

Leaves a small scar at the base of the nostril.

Revision

Corrects an earlier surgery

Usually needs grafts and a longer recovery. Many surgeons want to wait about a year after the last surgery.

How much does rhinoplasty cost in Korea?

Rough range from public sources

About ₩3,000,000–15,000,000

≈ US$2,200–11,000, at a recent exchange rate

Rough range from public price guides, read November 2026. Revision sits at the top. It varies by clinic; your written quote decides.

Use the range above to plan. Where you land depends on the steps below. You get each clinic's written quote before you fly. Send your goal to start.

What changes the price

  • Implant or cartilage, and where the cartilage comes from
  • Tip work and nostril work added to the bridge
  • The anesthesia plan and who monitors it
  • A first surgery or a revision (revision usually costs more)

A good quote lists

  • Surgery and anesthesia
  • Tests before surgery
  • Implant or graft material
  • Medicine and dressings
  • Splint removal and follow-up visits
  • VAT

Recovery, day by day

Day 0
Surgery, about 1.5–3 hours. Some bleeding from the nose for 24 hours. Keep your head raised.
Days 4–7
Internal packing comes out, if you have any.
Days 7–10
The splint and bandages come off at the clinic.
Days 10–14
Most swelling and bruising settles. People usually plan the flight home after the surgeon's check in this window.
About 3 weeks
Most normal activity, including exercise, once your surgeon clears you.
Up to 1 year
Minor swelling can remain. How long varies by person and method. The tip takes longest.

Good to know before you book

The VAT refund has ended
Foreign patients could reclaim 10% VAT on cosmetic procedures until December 31, 2025. It no longer applies, and older guides still mention it. Check that your quote includes VAT.
An online quote is a first estimate
A quote from photos can change at the in-person consultation. Keep the day before surgery open for it, with an interpreter.
Stay near the clinic for the first week
You return for packing and splint removal. A short taxi ride matters when you are swollen and in a splint.
Sun and glasses
Avoid direct sun for a few months. If your nasal bones were changed, ask before wearing glasses without support.
Take your records home
Ask for an English surgery note naming the method and any implant. A doctor at home or a future surgeon will need it.
Before you fly
  • Send front and side photos of your nose.
  • Bring records of any past nose surgery.
  • List your medicines and supplements. Ask the clinic which to stop and when, including blood thinners.
  • Book a return date you can change.
  • Check whether your travel insurance covers elective surgery. Many policies do not.
  • Pack tops that open at the front, so nothing pulls over the splint.

How to choose a clinic

Look for

  1. 1The surgeon is named in writing, and you know whether they are a plastic surgery specialist (jeonmuneui).
  2. 2You meet that surgeon before surgery, not only a consultant.
  3. 3They do your method regularly. A bridge implant and a rib cartilage revision are different work.
  4. 4A named person monitors anesthesia during surgery.
  5. 5The clinic is registered with Medical Korea to treat foreign patients.
  6. 6You have a written plan for problems after you fly home.

What to ask at the consultation

  1. 1Which steps does my plan include, and why each one?
  2. 2Which implant or cartilage, and from where?
  3. 3If an implant has to come out, what happens and who pays?
  4. 4What is your revision policy, and how long does it last?
  5. 5Who gives and monitors the anesthesia?
  6. 6When can I fly, and who checks me first?

Questions people ask

How much does rhinoplasty cost in Korea?

Roughly ₩3,000,000–15,000,000 from public price guides read in November 2026. Revision sits at the top. It depends on the steps in your plan: implant or cartilage, tip and nostril work, anesthesia, first surgery or revision. You see the written quote before you fly; the clinic confirms the final price after your consultation.

Which rhinoplasty clinic in Korea is best for me?

The best clinic depends on your goal, method and budget, so we don't name one. Tell us those and a coordinator suggests 2–3.

How long should I stay in Korea for rhinoplasty?

Plan 10–14 days. The splint comes off around days 7–10, and people usually plan the flight home after the surgeon's check.

When can I fly after rhinoplasty?

Ask your surgeon, because it depends on your surgery and how you heal. Taking the splint off does not by itself clear you to fly. People usually plan days 10–14.

Silicone or cartilage: which should I choose?

It depends on how much height you want and your skin. Silicone needs no second surgical site but is a foreign material. Cartilage is your own tissue but adds a surgical site. Ask the surgeon why they suggest one for you.

Is rhinoplasty in Korea safe?

Every surgery has risks, including bleeding, infection, breathing changes and a result you want to revise. No clinic can rule them out. Use the checklist on this page to ask about the surgeon, anesthesia and follow-up.

Why are there no reviews or before-and-after photos here?

Korean medical advertising law bars treatment reviews and before-and-after photos in this kind of advertising. Ask a coordinator what you want to know, and ask the clinic at your consultation.

Will someone interpret at the clinic?

Yes. Tell us when you ask and we arrange an interpreter for your visits.
