Incheon Airport to Seoul: AREX, bus, taxi or private transferThe fastest, cheapest and easiest ways into the city

The AREX Express train is the quickest way from Incheon Airport to Seoul Station (about 45–50 minutes); the all-stop AREX train is cheaper and links to the subway, while a limousine bus or private transfer is easier with luggage or after the trains stop near midnight.

Incheon Airport is about 50 km from central Seoul. The AREX airport railroad is the fastest way to Seoul Station: the non-stop Express train takes roughly 45–50 minutes, the all-stop commuter train about an hour and connects to subway lines along the way. Airport limousine buses go straight to hotel areas like Myeongdong, Gangnam and Hongdae, and a private transfer or taxi takes you door to door — the easiest choice with heavy luggage, children or a late-night arrival.

Step by step

  1. 1Pick by where you are staying: near Seoul Station/Myeongdong → AREX Express; Gangnam or Jamsil → limousine bus or transfer.
  2. 2Buy the AREX Express ticket or book the transfer before you fly (voucher on your phone).
  3. 3After customs, follow the 'Train to city' signs to the AREX station at Terminal 1 or 2 (B1).
  4. 4Exchange your voucher or tap in, ride to Seoul Station and connect to Line 1 or 4 (Myeongdong is two stops on Line 4).
  5. 5Arriving late? Check the last train time; after midnight, a booked transfer or night bus is the safest option.

Good to know

  • Get a T-money or WOWPASS card at the airport convenience store — it pays for the all-stop train and the subway.
  • Some airlines offer city check-in at Seoul Station for the return trip; check whether yours does.

AREX: FAQ

How do I get from Incheon Airport to Myeongdong?+

AREX trains stop around midnight. Book a private transfer in advance or take a late-night airport bus; taxis are available at the rank 24 hours.

Can I use a T-money card on the AREX?+
