Quick answer

Give Busan 2–3 days on a first trip: one day on the Haeundae side (the beach, the Blueline Park Sky Capsule, X the SKY), one day in the old town (Gamcheon Culture Village, Jagalchi Market, Busan Tower), and an optional day trip to Gyeongju. The KTX from Seoul Station takes about 2.5 hours, and a standard one-way seat is roughly ₩60,000. Sleep in Haeundae for the sea, or Seomyeon for the most subway connections.

Most things to do in Busan sit in two clusters: the beaches around Haeundae and the old port around Nampo, about an hour apart by subway. If you plan one cluster per day, you spend your time seeing the city instead of riding between the two. This guide is for first-time visitors adding Busan to a Seoul trip, as of November 2026.

How many days do you need in Busan?

Two full days is enough for a first visit, and three lets you add Gyeongju. Here is a plan that works for most first visits:

DayMorningAfternoonEvening
1KTX from Seoul (about 2.5 hours), then about an hour to HaeundaeHaeundae Beach, Blueline Park Sky CapsuleX the SKY for the night view
2Gamcheon Culture VillageJagalchi Market, BIFF SquareBusan Tower, Nampo street food
3 (optional)Gyeongju day tourBulguksa and the old tombsBack to Busan, Gwangalli Bridge lights

Day 1 is full if you arrive by KTX: Busan Station to Haeundae takes about 50–60 minutes, so take a morning train or move the Sky Capsule to day 3. Haeundae to Nampo also takes about an hour by subway with one change, so keep each day on one side of the city.

What is there to do around Haeundae?

The beach, the Sky Capsule along the coast, and the view from X the SKY. The Haeundae Blueline Park Sky Capsule is a small rail car that runs slowly along the cliffs between Mipo and Cheongsapo, with the sea right below the window.

X the SKY is the observatory on floors 98 to 100 of the LCT tower, right on Haeundae Beach. Go just before sunset to see the beach in daylight and the city lights afterwards.

Haedong Yonggungsa, a Buddhist temple built on the rocks by the sea, is about 30 minutes by bus or taxi from Haeundae; go early in the morning before the crowds. In the evening, Gwangalli Beach is on the same subway line, and Gwangan Bridge is lit up after dark.

What should you see in the old town?

Gamcheon Culture Village, Jagalchi Market and Busan Tower, all in one day. Gamcheon is a hillside village of painted houses and narrow stairs; go in the morning before the tour buses. Jagalchi is Busan's main seafood market, where you can choose seafood downstairs and have it cooked upstairs. Busan Tower stands in Yongdusan Park above the Nampo shopping streets.

If you do not want to plan buses between them, a city tour covers Gamcheon, Jagalchi and the Sky Capsule in one day.

Is a Gyeongju day trip worth it?

Yes, if you have a third day. Gyeongju was the capital of the Silla kingdom, and Bulguksa Temple and the Daereungwon tomb park are a short drive from each other. Buses between the sites are infrequent, so a guided day tour from Busan saves you working out the local buses.

How do you get from Seoul to Busan?

Take the KTX. It is usually the fastest door-to-door option, because Seoul Station and Busan Station are both in the city center.
